How Phase Space is transforming mental health support in schools, universities and healthcare.

In schools

From pilot to implementation at Alleyn’s School, London:

Leading the way in holistic mental health management for students and staff

Results:

  • The 7 minute experience was an ideal length for integrating into lessons and short lunchtime sessions

  • 23 out of25 staff reported a drop in their perceived stress levels

  • Phase Space VR was most effective for students with high levels of anxiety and stress

  • However staff observed benefits to all pupils, helping them to focus and clear their minds

Background: staff and pupils at Alleyn’s were given access to Phase Space in February 2024 - both as a one-off experience and over time as a guided course for sixth form tutorial groups

Encouraged by these positive outcomes, Alleyn’s School has continued the Phase Space programme into the 24/25 academic year.

It’s nice to step back from the constant onslaught of things that I do at school - the VR really helped completely detach my mind from stress, and has really helped calm me down.

On campus

Transformational “Wellbeing Weeks” in UK universities:

Engaging the support of Student Unions to deliver innovative peer support

  • The pilots revealed strong student enthusiasm for Phase Space

  • Wellbeing ambassadors from the student community were confidently delivering mental health support to their peers in a matter of hours

  • 92% of students reported a drop in stress levels after using Phase Space VR

All three universities have continued their partnerships with Phase Space following the pilot.

Absolutely great...fab experience. This should be available to all City staff and students.

In the community

Collaborative approaches to innovation:

How Phase Space supports a range of initiatives across community healthcare

Background: A 2023 pilot at North Wood Group Pratice in South London led to an evolving, collaborative partnership, with healthcare workers driving innovative use cases in community settings

Results:

  • Phase Space was first offered to staff at the surgery during lunchtime sessions as part of a Wellness Week

  • 34 staff took part, including doctors, clinical support workers and practice managers.

  • Significant reductions in stress levels for 90% of participants shows that Phase Space can be an effective re-set for people with stressful jobs.

  • Enthusiastic staff proposed sessions to offer Phase Space at their drop-in pain clinic, which took place in June 2024

Phase Space’s easy to use technology has created confident users across a range of healthcare areas at the practice.

North Wood’s future plans include offering Phase Space at their dedicated youth mental health hub, in partnership with a local secondary school.

Finding new ways to support young people’s mental health is vital. We were impressed with the results of Phase Space and could immediately see the potential benefits for our patients
